Bozeman, Montana is known for it’s stunning scenery and endless outdoor activities. But lately we have been all about the unique businesses popping up! And our favorite destination is The Cannery District. What were once an abandoned and desolate canning buildings, are now booming modern designed structures that hold some of the most creative companies in Bozeman.
A local brew hotspot. Filled with good food and even better beer. 406 hosts all flagship beers that have taken roughly three years to refine. Their White Peach Wheat specialty is perfect for those with a sweeter tooth, whereas their Atlas Stout is for those who crave more richness to their beer. And to be perfectly honest, all of them paired well with their locally sourced food menu.
Our team confessed that the stout and sweet peach variations were their favorites and begged for a full pint!
Another unique company completely dedicated to celebrating all of Montana’s beauty. Rather than importing into our beautiful state, Wildrye dedicates their customized liquors to the local ingredients of our state. The result? Spirits with a distinct Montanan flair. Aside from boasting hand made + bottled products, their liquors are equally tasty. Their Five Drops of Bourbon Whiskey was a favorite among our group and the girls couldn’t stop praising the Montana Wildflower. A clean and brisk nod to Wildrye’s own bourbon whiskey made from their own sweetcorn on their family farm in Corvallis, Montana + a hint of lavender.
Another crowd pleaser is the Rosemary Fantasy — bit heavy on the rosemary for some, but for others it hit the perfect balance of savory and sweet.
Old school? We hear you. And their bourbon neat was just as refreshing as their in house cocktails.
Bozeman Oil and Vinegar
This one goes out to all those foodies! Typically tours are heavy on the booze and light on the taste, but not so in the Cannery District! Bozeman Oil and Vinegar is tucked away among the brews and offers just as much fun as the other hot spots do. Chocolate lovers, herb enthusiasts, and spice carnivores can all agree this is one spot in Bozeman that let’s you get as customized as you want.
Select your favorite between sweet or savory vinaigrettes to be paired with a complementary oil. Our staff favorite was the lime oil + pomegranate vinaigrette!
We couldn’t possibly get through the entire Cannery District in one afternoon — though we gave it a good college try! For anyone who has yet to venture into the new-ish district these are your must stops. With possibly a bit more time reserved for Wildrye because… cocktails.
Full Steam Ahead,
Engine 8 Team
